PUBLIC NOTICE

Effective Immediately

As of March 24, 2020

TOWNSHIP OFFICES ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC

Until further notice, South Branch Township Hall will not be open to the public due to Governnor Whitmer's "Stay Home Order" EO 2020-21, issued Monday March 23, 2020 in reference to COVID-19.  Our elected officials will continue working in order to perform necessary government activities.  All other township employees will only work if critically necessary, such as first responders and the transfer station employees. 

 Please take the appropriate health precautions and stay safe.

Cell Tower Update

There was a mid-January delay with the carrier's work schedule. 

Verizon has begun the installation of their equipment, however, the on air date has changed. 

New anticipated target date for getting the site on air is late February or early March 2020.

South Branch Township is seeking to fill a vacancy on the

ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS

Applications will be accepted until 12:00 noon on Friday, April 27th 2020.

Interested individuals may apply for this position by submitting a completed application, along with a copy of their resume, via email to the Township Supervisor at supervisor@southbranchtownship.com , by mail via the US Postal Service, mailed to South Branch Township, P.O. 606 Roscommon, MI 48653, or in person at the Township Offices, located at 5245 N. M-18, Roscommon, MI.

Applications may be printed directly from our website by clicking on the ‘FORMS’ tab in the column to the left, or obtained in person at the Township Offices between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon, M – F.

Position Requirements & Expectations

Required:  Qualified applicants must be a resident of South Branch Township. Must be available to attend the specified regular meeting dates as well as any scheduled special meeting dates. Must be capable of reading, understanding, and interpreting, all regulations as set forth in the zoning ordinance to effectively apply equitable judgment to individual cases with unique circumstances. 

Preferred:  Qualified applicants should demonstrate effective communication skills, both verbal and written. ZBA members are expected to perform site visits in conjunction with many cases. Site visits may include walking on or through uneven and/or steep terrain, muddy or wet areas, sometimes on heavily wooded lots that have not yet been cleared for a building site. Ability to withstand the elements and environment to perform a basic visual inspection and walk-around of a property site is expected.

South Branch Township 

Seeking Planning Commission Applicants

SBT is seeking persons who would like to serve their community as a member of our Planning Commission.

Commission memberships are appointed positions for varying terms of service. A per-diem is paid per meeting. Regular meetings are held monthly on the 1st Thursday of the month. Special meetings are scheduled as needed. Interested individuals must be a South Branch Township resident and should contact the Township Supervisor, Laurie Luck, at 989-275-8232 for more information. 

Applications may be picked up, in person, at the Township Hall, Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 12:00 noon, and are also available here on our website (click the Job Application link above).

REMINDER REGARDING CEMETERY SEASONAL MAINTENANCE


 

Please ensure that all summer decorations on or around grave sites be removed prior to November 1st, as specified in the South Branch Township Cemetery Ordinance No. 16B as amended 

Section 10: Ground Maintenance (part G) 

All refuse of any kind or nature including, among others, dried flowers, wreaths,papers, and flower containers must be removed at the close of the season. Holders containing flowers and other decorations will be removed as the flowers fade and wither and the right is reserved by the South Branch Township Board to make such removal. Winter decorations, wreaths and grave blankets must be removed by May 1, and summer decorations by November 1, or such other times as is specified by the South Branch Township Board.

Are available here at the township office, beginning November 1st through the end of February yearly. Fees: spayed/neutered $8, without spayed/neutered $15. After March 1st, you must go to the County Offices. Please bring proof that your animal is spayed or neutered & a copy of your animal's rabies certificate; they must be presented to get a license.

For Applications made on or after March 1st, the fee is $25 and are only available at the Crawford County Offices located in downtown Grayling at the Courthouse. Please see the County Treasurer.
