Regular Meeting Schedule Minimize

Township Board meets 2nd Tuesday each month at 7:00 p.m.*

Planning Commission meets 1st Thursday each month at 7:00 p.m.

Zoning Board of Appeals meets 2nd Monday, quarterly at 7:00 p.m. (March, June, September, December)

All Regular Township Board, Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals meetings are held at the Township Offices located at 5245 N. M-18, Roscommon, MI and are open to the general public. Special meetings, when required, will be posted as they are scheduled.   

*Exception for March - The Township Board will meet on the 3rd Tuesday in March.

SBT Zoning Board of Appeals

Held a Public Hearing on August 5th 2019

at the South Branch Township Hall, 5245 N. M-18 Roscommon

Regarding a dimensional variance in the Low Density Residential zoning district

On August 5, 2019 the SBT ZBA granted a 37-foot reduction to the front setback standard of 100-feet to construct a new detached accessory building in the front yard in the LDR zoning district. The variance request was approved by the ZBA for a project located at 10059 Acre Lane, Roscommon, for applicants, Mr. Gary Marker & Mrs. Pauline Marker.

SBT Zoning Board of Appeals

Held a Public Hearing on July 1st 2019

at the South Branch Township Hall, 5245 N. M-18, Roscommon

Regarding an Au Sable River Stream Corridor Zoning Variance

On July 1, 2019, the SBT ZBA granted a 125-foot reduction to the front setback standard of 200-feet to construct a new primary dwelling, and to completely demolish the existing dwelling which is currently situated at a distance of only 40.7-feet from the water's edge. The variance request made by Mr. & Mrs. Keeley was approved, with conditions, for the project located at 835 E. Dort Rd. Roscommon, MI.

SBT Zoning Board of Appeals

Held a Public Hearing on March 11th 2019 

at the South Branch Township Hall, 5245 N. M-18, Roscommon

Regarding an Au Sable River Stream Corridor Zoning Variance

On March 11th 2019, the SBT ZBA approved a Zoning Variance for a parcel located within the Au Sable River Stream Corridor Overlay zoning district. Subject parcel is located at 11155 Red Pine Drive, Lot #16 of Red Dog #2 subdivision. A variance was granted for a 30 foot reduction to the front yard setback standard to accommodate the construction of a new primary dwelling on a previously vacant parcel.

The Special Use Permit request made by Skyway Towers, LLC was approved by the Planning Commission at the conclusion of the Public Hearing held December 20, 2018.

Held a Special Meeting on September 27, 2018

Regarding a Special Use Permit for a Stream Corridor Planned Unit Development

The Special Use Permit request made by Au Sable Riverview Resort and Au Sable Fly & Tackle, LLC was approved with conditions, by the Planning Commission after a Public Hearing held December 7, 2017 and additional deliberations held April 5, 2018.

Held a Public Hearing on September 24, 2018

Regarding a dimensional variance in the Stream Corridor Overlay zoning district 

The variance for Mr. Sylvester for parcel #063-008-001-020-11, located at 8357 Sylvester Trail, Grayling MI, was approved by the ZBA for the addition of an upper story to an existing, legal non-conforming, dwelling.

Held a Public Hearing July 2nd 2018 & continued deliberations on August 6th, 2018

South Branch Township Hall, 5245 N. M-18, Roscommon

Regarding a dimensional variance in the Stream Corridor Overlay zoning district 

The variance for Mr. & Mrs. Grant on parcel #063-002-013-020-05 located at 613 Mc Master's Bridge Rd was approved by the ZBA to construct an addition in excess of 50% of the existing ground floor area, to a legal non-conforming dwelling.
